From Our Pembrokeshire Kitchen to Award-Winning Preserves

How It All Began – From Hedgerow to Homemade Preserves

Farmers Food at Home started with a bumper harvest, a love of good food and a kitchen full of fruit! What began as a way to make the most of our homegrown produce soon became a passion for creating delicious Welsh preserves, handmade here in Pembrokeshire.

Those jars proved rather popular — and Farmers Food at Home was born!

From a Few Jars to an Award-Winning Business

Those first few jars sold out almost immediately, and what started as a hobby quickly grew into a proper little business.

Over the years, Farmers Food at Home has grown from making small batches of preserves at home to producing an award-winning range of jams, chutneys, marmalades and other delicious creations here in Pembrokeshire.

Today, our preserves are still made in small batches in our purpose-built production kitchen, using traditional methods and carefully chosen ingredients. We make the most of seasonal, locally grown and foraged produce wherever possible, creating flavours that celebrate the wonderful ingredients available around us in Pembrokeshire.

You’ll now find our products in independent shops, cafés and other businesses, as well as in our own farm shop and online store.

Although the business has grown, the idea behind it hasn’t changed — making delicious, quality preserves with plenty of care and a little bit of Pembrokeshire in every jar.

The Secret Behind Our Award-Winning Welsh Preserves

So what’s the secret behind Farmers Food at Home? It’s actually quite simple — good ingredients, proper flavours and a whole lot of care!

We believe the best preserves start with great ingredients. Wherever possible, we use seasonal, locally grown and foraged produce, making the most of the wonderful fruit and vegetables available here in Pembrokeshire.

Every jar is made in small batches, combining traditional preserving methods with a little creativity. From our much-loved chilli jam and classic strawberry jam to our range of chutneys and marmalades, there’s something for every taste.

We’re proud to have won awards for our preserves, but what matters most is hearing that people genuinely enjoy them — whether they’re spreading our jam on their morning toast, adding chutney to a cheeseboard or giving a few jars as a thoughtful gift.

And we’re always experimenting with new flavours, so there’s usually something bubbling away in the kitchen!

We’re gonna need more jars!

As Farmers Food at Home grew, so did the need for more space — and a lot more jars!

In 2019, we took the next big step and moved into our purpose-built production kitchen, giving us the room to keep up with demand while continuing to make our preserves in small batches.

Then, in 2020, we opened The Paddock Farm Shop in Mathry, Pembrokeshire. What started as a home for our own preserves soon grew into a lovely little shop showcasing fresh produce, everyday essentials and delicious food from other independent Welsh producers.

And we didn’t stop there!

In spring 2026, we opened The Paddock Café, giving visitors somewhere to sit, relax and enjoy good coffee, homemade cakes and light lunches. It’s become another wonderful part of what we do, and we love welcoming locals, holidaymakers and their four-legged friends — dogs are welcome inside too!

Today, Farmers Food at Home continues to produce our award-winning preserves for customers across the UK, while The Paddock Farm Shop & Café brings everything together here in the heart of Pembrokeshire.

It’s certainly come a long way from those first few jars on the pub counter!

Rooted in Pembrokeshire, With the Future in Mind

Being based in the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside is a big part of who we are, and we’re always looking for ways to make our business a little more sustainable.

We grow some of our own ingredients and use locally sourced and seasonal produce wherever possible, making the most of what’s available around us.

Our on-site wind turbine helps provide renewable energy for the business, while our electric delivery van — affectionately known as The Jam Van — helps us get our products out and about.

We’re not claiming to be perfect, but we believe the little things add up. From supporting local growers and producers to making thoughtful choices about how we work, we’re proud to be building a business that’s rooted in our local community.
